• Born 1960 in Hokkaido.
• Completed a doctoral program at Waseda University Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences (Theater and Film Arts), in 1991.
• Specializes in Japanese theater.
• After working at the Waseda University Theater Museum, took a post at Ritsumeikan University in 1991.
• Currently, leader of the MEXT-sponsored Global COE Program, (Ritsumeikan University) Digital Humanities Center for Japanese Arts and Cultures.
