I want to know technology of EtherCAT, merit of ETG members, how to implement and EtherCAT Vendor ID.

My device uses DIN rail. Can I use it at ETC-J?
Yes, you can use DIN rail at ETC-J.

Can I use devices for conformance testing in ETC-J?
Devices and space in ETC-J cannot be used by everyone.
ETG members can use them for hire.
Usage fee appears on Price list (members only).

Can I use EtherCAT logos after passing Conformance Test Tool? Need I EtherCAT conformance test at ETC-J?
Products using EtherCAT technology must pass inhouse CTT, and be mark EtherCAT logo.
Products can use Conformance Tested logo after passing EtherCAT conformance test and being certificated.

If I develop some products, can you test them on one day?
It depends.
We usually schedule single device takes a half day and family testing takes a day.

What is Conformance Tested logo?
It is transmitted from ETG after passing EtherCAT Conformance Testing.
It can be used by only EtherCAT conformance tested products.
EtherCAT logos can be downloaded Member Area | Logo Download in ETG website.

Our DuT is AC servo drive. Should AC servo drive have to support DC-mode?
As described in ETG.6010 CiA402 Implementation Directive, DC is recommended to support for servo drives.
Servo drives generally support DC synchronous mode as far as we know.

What is the difference between Conformance Test and EtherCAT Conformance Test?
Within the context of the ETG Conformance Test Policy:

Conformance Test is the Test, in which the conformance of the Device under Test (DuT) with the EtherCAT Specifications is tested with the help of a Conformance Test Tool.
EtherCAT Conformance Test: Conformance Test, Interoperability Test and Physical Layer Testcarried out by an EtherCAT Test Center.
So the EtherCAT Conformance Test is a superset of the Conformance Test.
Do I have to submit my EtherCAT device to the EtherCAT Test Center for testing?
No. Conformance Testing with the Test Tool „at home“ is　sufficient to meet the minimum requirements of the Vendor ID agreement.

I am an EtherCAT device vendor. Do I have to license the conformance test tool?
Yes. The ETG takes conformance very seriously, and the availability of the conformance test tool at
each and every device vendors R&D lab is an important cornerstone in this process

Does the Certificate expire?
No. The Certificate confirms that a device of a certain release has passed the current test version in the EtherCAT Test Center. Of course the Certificate can neither confirm that all future releases of the device will also pass, nor that the current device release will pass all future enhancements of the EtherCAT Conformance Test.

Do I have to submit my device again once I released a newer version?
No. However, according to the Vendor ID agreement, you will have to test future releases of your product against the conformance test tool in your R&D lab. Of course you may also submit your device again to the EtherCAT Test Center and obtain a new certificate!

Can I get a Conformance Certificate based on the test results obtained in my R&D lab?
No. The Conformance Certificate can only be issued after successfully passing the test at an accredited EtherCAT Test Center.

Does the test in the EtherCAT Test Center exceed the test done with the Conformance Test Tool (at home)?
Yes. The test in the EtherCAT Test Center also includes an interoperability test, checking for conformance regarding the indicator and labeling spec, the marking rules etc.

 

Order Procedure

Can I start Test on the afternoon?
Yes. But, available time is between 9:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. You need to pay extra fee per extra hour if we don’t finish test.
We use CTT twice per DuT, other test terms need between 30 and 60 minutes.
2 devices are tested in Family Test.
Test PC is one. I recommend you to think test time.

Can I add undeveloped products to family list?
No, you can’t. Please refer to Conformance Test Policy 7.2.

How long does it take to receive a Certificate?
It is between one and two weeks and time of Air Mail.
Test Record is submitted to ETG, ETG accept it, and certificate is published.

ETC submit Test Record to ETG after payment of the test fee is confirmed.
ETC-J demand it after receiving Test Contract.

We can change Test Date any time.
Please finish office procedure as soon as possible.

Can I add new product in family list after testing?
No, you can’t. Additional family members not included in the initial submission are subject to normal testing procedure by Conformance Test Policy 7.2.
If you submit Test Request Form again before testing, ETG could modify family list.

What category is Junction Slave?
There is no category for Junction Slave exclusive use.
Please select category by reference to Category, or Conformance Test Policy on ETG Website.
Please fill “Description of Device” for “EtherCAT Junction Box”.

My slave has variable number driver modules. Is it certificated device if it is different number from testing?
Yes, it is if common modules are independent of EtherCAT communication and driver modules are user applications independent of EtherCAT communication.
We certificate only EtherCAT communication part.

Can I use three-phase power supply in ETC-J?
No, you cannot.
We don’t arrange three-phase power supply.
You can use single phase 100v, single phase 200v, and rate of pressure rise 1:4 transformer.

Please contact ETC-J if you need special power supply.

I have several tens of thousands of family list members. Must I submit all tested CTT project files?
No, you don’t have to. For numerous family list members case, we have tested EtherCAT Conformance Testing after checking two Dut CTT files and other two CTT files by ETG judgment.

How much is charged for the EtherCAT Conformance Test at the ETC-J?
Please contact us.

I have no responses yet after I sent Conformance Test Request Form to ETG.
ETG confirms validations of the Vendor ID and the subscription of the EtherCAT Conformance Test Tools.
If the company name and/or the address between the Request Form and the ETG record are different, it may takes longer for the confirmation.
Then please contact to ETG for the order status.

For example, in case one of oversea branch corporations has the Vendor ID agreement and the Vendor ID is shared within the domestic and oversea corporations, the additional agreement may be required from ETG.

ETC-J generally contact to the vendor in 2 business days after forwarding the test request.
